Battery replaced

Can someone post a good replacement battery for the OEM battery? I cannot find any matches when a look for a replacement. (2016 DS HSE) Would it be the same as a Range Rover Evoque?

Although it seems a lot of work, it is a fairly straightforward job. The battery box can be partially dismantled which makes lifting the battery a lot easier.
Don’t forget to re-install the vent tube!
The BMS system should be reset. I have found it best to charge the battery first, then reset the BMS with a compatible scanner as the stop/start system seems to work best if you do this.
It isn’t desperate that the BMS is reset, but it can cause fault codes to generate if not done properly and it can affect stop/start functionality.
The BMS should relearn after a few days use.
Wished I had seen your post on Wednesday
Just had my LR Disco serviced by Land Rover Guildford, Surrey and had a phone call to say the Battery was dodgy and "not taking any charge"???
Anyway, as the car is 6 years old I said please replace the battery- DOH!!!
I nearly fell over when presented with the Bill.
It was £275.94 for the Battery - YES YOU read that correctly AND £270 to fit it.
LAND ROVER are taking the P***
I had to pay as they would not return my car. SONOT A HAPPY BUNNY WITH LAND ROVER
Yes the retail price for the battery is silly. You can get the battery for around £110 in the UK, as you say they are nearly £300 from a dealer, plus labour to fit!
I’ve changed the auxiliary belt on my car recently as well as I don’t think it was charging to full capacity. Certainly my stop/ start seems a lot better now.
If the battery won't start your car but the lights say "low battery, press start" and that doesn't work how do you get the car started. At one point it didn't recognize my key fob either.
If the battery is the original battery you may have to install a new AGM battery.

Meanwhile have your Automobile Association or a friend give the car a boost to get it started,, or put the car on charge.

With a low battery there is power to run the radio etc. but when you try to start the car the battery voltage will drop and the radio etc. will not work. After 15 minutes or so the battery voltage may rise enough to run the radio Etc. The key fob would also not work for the same reason.

Thanks Bill.. I put a battery charger on it, got it cranked and took it to have the battery replaced.. the battery tested showed battery had enough energy volts and it just needs to be charge so I’m charging it completely over night… I’m still not sure why this happened.. any ideas what caused it?? I’m 56, going through a divorce (no hubby to help) and knows nothing about a vehicle, I appreciate all you help.. have a great day.. I’m overtheedge🖤
If you do not drive a long distance the battery slowly discharges until one day it just has too low of a charge.

You can put it on charge every so often, but it is best to use a charger designed for AGM batteries. Any good shop can help you.

Lots of hubbies on the site that need help as well LOL

Greetings,
I have a 2016 LRDS HSE, owned since 2018. The auto start / stop function has never worked no matter what the configuration of amenities.
Recently, we took LRDS on a long driving trip. The starter started acting 'wonky' in that it acted like it was struggling to start. Believing the battery is going on seven years, I decided to replace it. I've always selected the highest cold cranking amps (CCA) in any replacement battery I've purchase for previous vehicles. This time around I bought a Optima 880 CCA Group H7 built Aug 22 (fresh) at Auto Zone. This battery was the highest CCA they offered for my group. When the attendant installed it, he connected a device to the diagnostic port. The old battery came out, the new battery went in. He unplugged the port and we were done.
On the way home, the auto start / stop feature began working at the first stop light. It has been working ever since. Granted, the weather is moderate and not much load on the electrical system.
I'm lead to believe that the old (factory original?) battery was either slightly damaged (somewhat bad cell?) or of insufficient CCA. No matter, I have a new, fully functioning battery and the auto start / stop is now working as well.
I hope this offers something helpful to others who are experiencing the same problem.
Best,
RJ

Thanks for posting this. Yes, you are 100% right. It is 100% battery related problem. I have 2016 DS, and the auto stop/start stopped working sometime around 2018 or so. My battery was pretty low at those days because I didn't drive my DS much; mostly I drive DS for long trip or camping, etc. When I fully charge my battery with CTEK charger, the auto stop/start suddenly works for a few hours. Then, back to square. I don't mind it much now but it is certainly battery related.

I have had the same experience with a Mercedes C250d - stop/start hadn't worked for years. New battery and it works fine now.
The stop/start on my 2015 DS has not worked for some time. I can't remember ever having changed the battery on this car, so maybe it is getting low. I was told that resetting the BMS would likely fix the stop/start.

Anyone know the battery size. amps and cold cranking amps on this battery?

This is what Costco lists. Best price I have found.

I was getting the "low battery, start engine" warning for a while, so I broke down and bought a new battery. Now the light will not go off? My lights will not stay on, due to "low battery" I'm assuming, and other things are not working. How do I reset my car and tell it there is a new battery?? Also, can you tell if your start/stop is working because I NEVER feel my car shutting off and coming back on when I stop? Thanks for any help! I am new to LR (this is my first)
Garage that replaced the battery should have done the battery reset and if not find a local garage that can do it on the car,,,,last resort Land Rover. Did they install the proper battery or go discount??

You will feel the engine shutting down and a quick look at your dash will show zero on the tach. But with a low battery the start/stop is never activated
We replaced the battery ourselves. I will see if I can find someone local to do a battery reset.

As far as I know, the start/stop has never work because I have never felt it shut down and a zero on the tach?

Thanks!
It is recommended that the Battery Monitoring sensor is removed from the negative terminal prior to a battery change out . Did you use a 850 amp AGM battery?
In January I bought a 2015 Disco Sport HSE Lux 2.2D. Just this morning I had Halfords come fit (at my home) their AGM115 Start/Stop Battery with a 5yr Guarantee (360,000 starts/80ah/800cca) at a total cost of £197.00 fitted. While having a factory recall replacement steering rack, I decided to get a full JLR service 2 weeks ago, I asked specifically about the Auto Stop/Start and was told emphatically that the battery was the cause. Preston LR quoted me £498.50 to drop a battery in whilst on the ramp....I declined. So been out for a 120-mile drive around to ensure everything was running tickety-boo (it was very frosty this morning) yet even still, I've not experienced one auto stop/start event. Any ideas as to what else may be the problem? All indicators suggest it's working fine.....it just doesn't work at all.

Sometimes it takes a day for the start/stop to start working again. Frosty ?? will not work at low temperatures.

Hi folks, had my 2015 Disco Sport battery replaces with correct spec battery, fitted by Halfords with 5 year guarantee, end or March, but the Auto Stop/Start still won't work at all. Everything checks out correct according to the Onboard System, but it just refuses to work!!🥺 Any suggestions please 🙏

The Auto Stop/Start system only activates if certain parameters are met. For example, if it’s cold outside and you have the heater on, this puts extra load on your battery so the stop/start will not work because if the car switches off the heater will stop working effectively which will reduce comfort levels. Same if it’s hot outside and you have the air con on. I live in northern Australia where most of the year it’s hot/warm so the air con is working hard every time we run the car. The stop/start only starts working once the air con has been on for a while and the cabin temperature has normalised. It will also not activate until the engine has come up to its optimal operating temperature so if your are in a cold climate you may not see it come on much. Especially if you only drive short distances.
