Hello,

Been driving my new MY16 DS for 100 miles now and it's really a nice SUV.

I've been watching how the Speed Limit Sign detector works and it can really pick-up signs that I sometimes miss.

Question for the forum... A weird icon will appear directly above the detected speed limit sign image in the Instrument Panel, message center...

I do not have a picture of it and I cannot find an example in the Warning Lights documents so I'll attempt to describe it.

+-------+
| T T <<-- Weird Icon
+-------+
+-------+
| Speed |
| Limit |

| 55 |
+-------+

In the image above, the two "T" letters are actually rear-facing outlines of the SUV. The left outline is RED, the right outline is BLACK, both are in a White-Background Box, same color as the speed limit sign.

It sometimes appears and then goes away but I cannot determine what triggers it. Lane Departure icon says I am centered in the lane.

Anyone know what this is trying to indicate. It soon disappears and randomly appears on my commute to/from work.

Very nice illustration with text :)

To whoever will have the same question - here is an answer: The sign means "no overtaking" that is known in US as "no passing"

This page a good illustration on how this sign looks like in various countries:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Overtaking

As you can see European countries have no problems recognizing this sign as they are very alike.
US has slightly different sign, so if you never driven outside US - you naturally have no idea what this sign mean.

I believe Land Rover could have changed the image of this sign to yellow "No Passing Zone" sign or white "Do No Pass" sign for those DS that are for US market.
It is just a software, come on... but we have what we have.
Cheers

Thanks for clearing this issue up. Its appearance seemed so random and it was driving me nuts as to what it meant.

Anyhow it's silly they didn't include a picture alongside the explanation in the owner's manual—or remarked about the multinational differences so I knew to look into it further—so skimming for it proved futile. BTW, for owners in the US, the explanation resides on pages 154 & 155 under the "Driving Aids" section of the manual (i.e. 2016 model year). I'm glad to have found the info about this function as I was about to mount my FasTrak device in that oh-so-perfect area on the passenger side of the windshield next to the rear view mirror.

Yes the symbol has something to do with No Passing Zone... however, the icon seems random and with logic behind it. My symbol illuminates when parked in a restaurant (0 kmHr or 0 MPH) or next to grassy areas (No passing on the grass???). I've learned to ignore it.

Just like the Night speed limit sign that randomly appears, even though there was no road sign indicating a Night speed limit!

My Night Speed limit indicator isn't quite so random. Happens whenever the speed limit sign is in shadow on an otherwise bright sunny day, that is if is reads it at all. I turn that feature off most of the time.
