My dealer gave me a vehicle order number. Is there some way I can use the number to look up build date or any other information? I ordered mid January and expect a delivery to Canada first week of March.

If you have the VIN, you can create a free TOPIX account, enter the VIN, and you should be able to view the information.

I know I can view the cars that are already built. I am not sure if it works for the cars that have not been built yet.

Don't know about LR, but after years with BMW, I have to say they have custom production line assembly down to a science.

If you order a car or domestic or Euro delivery - you can view various stages of the assembly online....

Too bad we can't go over to England and pick ours up - probably because they drive on the wrong side of the road....

Didn't realize BMW had production running that smooth.

What BMW's do you come from where you experienced that?

If you go to the Euro delivery forums such has Bimmerfest or Xpost or E90post you will find that many people who order their custom cars can view the various stages of assembly - photos and sometimes video of their car using the production number when assembly starts....

Wished Land Rover would offer either a UK delivery or a special delivery location like BMW's South Carolina or Palm Springs, CA Performance Center delivery - but I guess Land Rover is too small to offer such an amenity....

I was looking into a Euro delivery of my next BMW which I will have to consider in about 6 months when my X5 is up for lease return.
But the BMW brand is not very exciting to me after 15 years of ownership.
The BMW line has become so soft and muted that I'd rather buy a Caddy SUV for the same feel.

To replace the X5, I am going to start looking at these cars:
  • Volvo - XC 60 or 90 - delivery in Gothenburg, Sweden (they fly you and another for free round trip on SAS airlines, treat you to a night on them, delivery the next day, and meals).:D
  • BMW - X1 Euro delivery in Munich, Germany, but I have to pay for airfare. BMW pays for a night stay, local transport and meals. Only if the numbers work out really really well!:|
  • Audi - Q5 - Euro delivery in Germany - haven't decided which city... I would pay for airfare, local transport, and stay.:nerd:
  • Land Rover LR5 or Range Rover Diesel - local dealer. This would be my premier choice as it would replace out the diesel BMW SUV.>:D
  • Porsche - Cayenne or Macan delivery in Stuttgart, Germany - pricing not very competitive - almost full MSRP....:(
