There's been a few people who's had to have their DS towed but have no idea how to get the DS into full time neutral without turning on the engine.

I'd like to suggest a few things.
#1 call LR roadside assistance and they'll send out a qualified tow company that should know how to activate the override. Just make sure of that when you cal roadside assist.

#2 call your dealership service dept and ask.

#3 you can try the following procedure. It supposedly works on Evoques so it should work on DS.

Ignition on : then press brake pedal and hold, and at the same time press and hold the + paddle for manual gear shift - for more than 10 seconds. Then the selector raises. Select neutral.

I have not tried it yet. I just found out about it.
I'd probably confirm it with the dealership first before I try it.
But if anyone tries it without checking with dealership, AT YOUR OWN RISK. Please report back.

However I have no idea what to do if you have a dead battery. I believe RR has a manual override switch/lever hidden under the cup holder. I believe it works mechanically so no power needed.

On the Disco Sport 2017 your procedure doesn't not work. You actually have to pull a switch after removing the air filter! Very practical!!! Meaning that if your motor stops and you find yourself in the middle of a dangerous situation you cannot move the vehicle!!!

There is a fairly complicated :crying:way to disengage the transmission and I can send it to any one via private message (or preferably email because of the size so your email in the message would be helpful..) The PDF file is over 105 KB and attachments can only be 20KB. I have printed up a copy and keep it with my owners book just in case. Log on only weekly so be patient for a return

Dumbest Design Ever!!

Just had a Discovery owner run out of gas in front of my office on a blind corner...almost killed the driver, her daughter and their dog from cars coming around the blind bend. We had them vacate the vehicle until we could hike around the corner and alert oncoming traffic. Manual in car was useless but luckily read the posts below from DiscoDisco and Wham100 to get her in neutral to push out of the way (only shoulder was 30 feet ahead).

Bill,
I have been trying to get a message to you so that you can send me this info. this site is a pit, must have so many messages to do anything. So far I have not even been able to post let alone send you a pm. At any rate, last Sat. we had the engine quit, would not start. We sat in the rt. lane of a highway blocking traffic for three hours before tow truck arrived. We could not get it out of park! Turned out to be a failed fuel pump, 2016, 33,000 miles. Hope to get the car back today.
