My Traffic Sign Recognition system will not read a speed sign above 70 MPH. Here in Texas there are legal speed limits of 75, 80, and 85. The system does not read above 70 MPH.

Anyone else having this problem?

I think, but I can't swear, that it works when I went from Charlotte to Greensboro and I think the speed limit is 80 at one point. Nothing around here is more than 70 so I can't check it out again. Sorry.

Maybe above 70 is too fast for the camera to recognize it? Just a thought. Is it a camera that does it? Or do some just appear as they are programmed on the navigation system?

I went out today on our local toll road, and the camara read the 80 mph sign, but wouldn't pick up the 75 mph signs. This is nuts. I call the dealer and since it was Saturday, they were going to check into it and call back.

I also asked if there has been a firmware or software update, and the sales guy didn't know.

TRAFFIC SIGN RECOGNITION LIMITATIONS:
The system may provide false information or function incorrectly in the following conditions:

The windshield area in front of the camera is covered by a sticker, misted over, dirty, covered in snow or mud, etc.

Traveling in adverse weather conditions. For example, heavy fog, rain, snow, etc.

Traveling in an area not covered by the navigation system.

Driving toward very bright lights.

Concealed or covered signage.

Non-conforming road signs.

Navigation information is incorrect.

Does anyone think that the whole camera-based recognition is a hoax and it's all GPS-based?

I know my GPS will show the speed limit on each stretch of road, and the camera data is often 1/4 mi delayed.

Don't think so because my display changes just about the second it sees a speed limit sign.
