Another reason I go with Android! ;) When I picked up my DS the sales guy was pleasantly surprised when text messages displayed - then he said "Oh, you have an Android, texting doesn't work with the iPhone" - so...

I have no issues with displaying texts, touch screen, etc. I agree - time to replace the entire module.

This sounds very familiar to my current lease and the issues I have experienced (mercedes). I can definitely relate to your frustration so I feel for you. Hopefully this all gets worked out and they can just replace the unit. I ordered my DS with the upgraded Touch Pro so I am now hoping it was worth the extra cash. fingers crossed.

Keep us updated with the end result

Well my DS Lux is in for the fifth time to try and fix the inControl System. I emailed Land Rover directly and they had me take it in for another round. They gave me a new DS and I tested everything but texting and it worked fine on the new one.

I emailed my service rep and told him to tell Land Rover that I demand that the entire module be replaced on mine. He send the request/demand to the service manager and he is checking into it.

Has anyone had success with a iPhone 6S and texting?
I noticed that my 6s does not display incoming text messages as it used to before the latest Infotainment upgrade.
Well not a big deal as I don't want to be distracted while driving.

I love my new updated Infotainment system. Much improved over the 2015 build.

The Navigation was updated and the SD card slot replaced is the best now - it works every time I start her up.

When I took her to a remote uncharted area of the Eastern Sierras for fly fishing - the updated Infotainment and Navigation told me exactly where I was. See pictures below showing location in case I got lost as there is no cell phone reception.
It can even show the GPS coordinates too!

I live in a gated community and the nav system even shows our roads. Very accurate and gives different routes than my Garmin used to but works out faster. Very easy to use once you learn it's logic. Still argue with the voice command, maybe because it uses American English and is looking for an accent. LOL

Drove past Bishop (see above jpg) a coupe of years ago and most likely will pass it again this fall glad it works out in the Sierra's

I just got a call back that my DS Lux is ready for pickup. Apparently on 2016's you have to have iMessaging turned off on your iPhone 6S in order to have the texting to work. You don't on the new 2017's. They apparently have made a hardware changes on the 2017s, wonder why! They also did some tuner updates on for the radio and some other software fixes.

The speed sign sign recognition still only work some of the time. There is a open ticket with Land Rover to see if they can find a fix.

Sure beats having a good time ! Let's see if they can find a fix for my SIXTH visit to get the **** thing fixed.

I picked up my 2016 DS Lux yesterday and asked to be shown the text feature working. The Service Rep. couldn't get it to work, so one of the Technicians was called, he was having problems so a second one was called. We finally got the settings for a iPhone 6S and 6 right and they are:

1. iMessaging needs to be turned off.
2. "Show Notifications" must be turned on... Its under Bluetooth, next to your car tap the "!", then turn it on.

It should work now.

Call me old-fashioned, but for me the less tech the better. The only option on my 2017 Disco Sport is the cold weather package, and I would have preferred buttons and switches to a touch screen. It seems to me the more tech that gets added the more potential there is for snafus. I don't get why people need nav, lane-drift warnings, sign recognition––sign recognition?! (So far my touch screen has worked very well, knock wood.)

Well, disco17 - you are old-fashioned :). I'm not a young guy (59), but I do appreciate lots of the new tech. I can even see a need for sign recognition - there have been times when I have been on a highway and haven't seen a speed limit sign for a while, and didn't know what the limit was, or there was a change that I didn't see (though I do have that turned off most of the time).

The tech, though, can be a distraction when driving and cause issues. and, of course, the more tech the more stuff to break!

My issue with tech is if it is on the vehicle I have a compultion to make sure it works. I too looked for less tech... Like the speed limit sign reader would have made me want to smash the vehicle if it did not work... Even though I have eyes and can see the signs myself.

We all have our issues.... :)

MGLarry and DrJJC, I agree with you both––1) tech can be really distracting and 2) the increased odds that something will go wrong (if you have a lot of tech) can cause a lot of angst for someone (like me) who wants everything to work as it should.

I have a 2016 land rover discover sport hse. i just traded my navigator in for it. it only has 14k miles on it and I have had a MKX as well, so this is very hard for me to get used to. I am not a fan but trying to become one. I think I have just had a lot to learn and I am not used to that.

I called the dealer to try to get him to walk me through it on the phone and discuss the issues and the service guy was not that great. the closest dealership is 2 1/2 hours away. so we finally took it up there with a list of what i wanted him to check. he said i had a lot of updates that needed to be done. just got it back last week. texting still does not work. i feel the car idles really loud. the service guy told me that was normal. but i can't see how that is normal. and it doesn't do it all the time, so i wonder if it didn't do it when they tried.

What phone do you have? As you read above, there are a lot of issues with the iPhone 6/6S. If that is what you have, try using the settings I used above.

I have been in contact with Land Rover USA as well as my dealer. There are a lot of updates that have come out. I think the system is so new (under 2 years) that they are fixing things all the time.

I was also told they have changed the system for 2017..

Good luck.

At Land Rover's request I took my DS Lux in for the 6th time to see if they could fix it. This time they had one of their roaming specialist come to the dealership and see what he could do. The two biggest problems left were the fact that the radio would forget it's station presets on occasion and that the 75 MPH sign recognition still doesn't work 90% of the time. I don't like the lag time for the system, but I don't think there is anything they can do about it.

After taking six test drives and driving over 117 miles, I was told that there is a fix to the radio coming in April. There is not a fix yet for the speed sign recognition but it is on their long list. So I guess there will be a 7th and 8th visit coming up....

The did provide a brand new 2017 as a loaner. The infomation system is all new. Larger screen and different interface. Looks like what the are putting the Jag F-Pace.

I have a 2017 and have not had any issues with the nav and iphone...

but have you guys tried this:

When u bt pair you phone, go into the bt settings of the car and make sure it is connected for all (phone and music). Then in the phone go to setting > bt > you should see Discovery Sport "Connected" click the on the (!) in blue next to it, and enable notifications.

Once i did that imessages started popping up on the screen and you can have them read out loud (I had to make sure the nav was set to english US not english UK).

Give that a try?

I have noticed that I can reply or template reply to imessages i have not tried with normal sms.

My 2017 has the similar looking one as the 2016 with the buttons on the side. I think the large one is an upgrade maybe? I have a 2017 HSE LUX

Looks like the difference is the InControl Touch vs. InControl Touch Pro

Well I picked up my LR DS Lux yesterday and while they verified the problems they didn't fix anything. The radio fix for losing the station presets is due out in a April update.

The speed sign reading failure has been added to the list of problems that need to be fixed with no ETA.

They also verified that Apple CarPlay will not be a feature added to the current InControl System.

I went to the dealer and they said there were no new updates are available. So I guess I will wait for the new April one.

I just drove up to Amarillo and back, witch is about a seven hour drive each way. I was listening to music while using the navigation system. The system totally reset on it own four times. Twice on the way up and twice on the way back.

Sure beats having a good time.
