Three Door Disco?

Ambitions are blooming at JLG, they are predicting growth of the global SUV market from 14 million cars to 22 million cars by 2020. They fully intend to be a major player.

The plan is for LR to introduce 16 distinct models over the next 8 years. Considering how much is shared wit the evoque I cant see them ruling out the potential of a three doored discovery sport...

I can see that happen, the Evoque seem to have done well with it's 3 door sales and did a good job at setting the stage for future LR products like that and even from other car makers.

A three door disco should sell, and well.
THe Evoque has NOT done well with its 3 door sales. I believe the take rate is well under 20%, closer to 10% if I'm not mistaken...

Wow that's not good, how do you know these exact numbers? do you have a link to any official information on it's coupe/3-door/2-door models?
I dont know the exact numbers, I gave a range. I've read it in passing, LR doesnt split their sales data
I don't really have any desire for a 3 door Disco Sport. It just seems counter to the utilitarian nature of an SUV. Makes it harder to use the back seat space.

not really, you can fold down the rear seats and then you have a massive empty space that you can access from the front seats or the rear hatch.

Great amount of space for hauling what ever it may be, you could probably sleep back their if you wanted to lol.
There is a lot of space back there, I will agree, but if you have it filled to the brim and then need to get back there to get something, it would definitely be easier to find stuff if you had the extra two back doors.
The doors help but thats just a small issue. Plus if you have to fill it up that much, you should decided what should be where for easier access than others if that's the case.
But that is how you can adapt to deal with having three doors. Having 5 doors would make things so much easier. I just don't really see the benefit of going with the three door model.
i the Netherlands (due to taks-rates -/- 35%) will a2 seater-van of the DS be popular
so a VAN only need 2 doors........... i will rebuild mine after delivery in set (eD4)
