Stop Engine Button 3 times before turning off

Rapidity 3 times in a row or seconds apart or even minutes apart. Do you need only one push to start the car?

When the engine stops yes

Have you tried holding it down just a little longer. My previous car shut off as soon as you hit the button but the DS took some getting used to because I had to hold it in a little longer. It's probably still not that long really, like 1/4 second or so.

I second NVRover's advice. I hold the start/stop button down for a full 1-count and that's always worked. Quickly stabbing the button is not as reliable.
