Hi everyone,

Has anybody ever seen the "Select gear to maneuver" message displayed in DS' driver instrument panel?

So far it has happened three times in a week. The sequence is like this:
1. Park the DS and keep the engine running.
2. Unbuckle, get out of the DS, and do something for a minute or two.
3. Get in the DS, buckle up, and select a gear.
4. When I select either R or straight to D, a loud and rapid beeping starts, the "Select gear to maneuver" message displayed in the instrument panel, and the letter (R or D) above the rotary gear selector flashes.
5. The beeping and "Select gear to maneuver" message disappear after 10 seconds or so, but the letter (R or D) above the rotary gear selector continues flashing until I select something different in the gear selector.

I tried to take a video from the last incident, but the beeping and "Select gear to maneuver" message disappear before I was able to hit the record button on my phone.

Is this a possible gear box/transmission fault? Thanks!

Yes, it happens to me as well, and it's usually when the car shuts itself off when I'm idling somewhere, like after pulling out of my garage and waiting for someone to get in the car. I'm sure it's related to the auto on/off feature. And it depends on what gear you were in. When I move the gear shift or the steering wheel eventually the car restarts and the message goes away. Not sure how to stop it happening, though, other than turning off auto on/off.

Thanks rcbjr2. When it happened to your DS, did you hear the beeping and the flashing gear letter (above the rotary selector)?

Yea, I think so, but I can't recall for sure. It'll probably happen again, so I'll keep an eye out for the flashing gear letter. I'm just about positive I recall beeping because there were warnings on the instrument panel flashing at me.

Thanks! I will try to capture the video (if I am fast enough) when it happens again next time.

This issue happened to me today! (I was driving in Standard Mode--not Eco nor Sport.) I was at a stop light at an incline. All of a sudden the "Select Gear to Maneuver" came on w/ the constant beeping. I let off the brake peddle but the car slowly rolled back and it almost front-ended the car from behind. I pressed the brake peddle again then switched the gear from D to N then back to D again and the message/beeping disappeared.

Geez! What the crap is going on? I'm driving a US$45,000 junk.

I had the exact same thing happen to me the other day at a red light on a hill. It took me ten seconds to get the thing restarted. Supposedly, when I took this into the dealer, they applied a software fix. At least there was something on the invoice about start/stop issues. It hasn't happened again, so maybe it's fixed, but I keep worrying about it on the same hill which I hit a red line on every day coming home from work. Anyway, my invoice shows they performed Tech Bulletin LTB00870NAS1, if that helps.

As the OP of this thread, I believe they applied this fix to my ex-DS, but the issue came back.

DS 2017 HSE D light blinking in middle of interstate

I experienced this issue too this weekend. We started our drive to mountains. We were on interstate and caught with heavy traffic, so there was a slow down. Al first we were getting little jerks while we were still on D mode. We suspected something wrong and all of a sudden the D light started flashing. We tried going to Park and back to D but it kept flashing.

We moved to shoulder and tried restarting the car and now it comes up but goes down in 15 secs. We tried this couple of times but it always went off.

Eventually, we had to have LD roadside assistance tow it back to showroom.

Did anybody get exact details of this issue from dealership?

It was a devastating to see a $45000 car stop all of a sudden in the middle of the road.
