Check engine light came on. Took it in to dealer. Was quoted $2700 for..."replace intake and exhaust vets, all three friction washers, valve cover gasket, sealant, tensioner and blade (engine codes are for camshaft correlation, engine has jumped time and vets have failed."

The auto runs fine. I don't get it. Am I getting ripped off?

Warranty coverage would take care of these repairs unless you voided it by making alterations, abusing the engine, altered the coding (software) or put in fuel that is not allowed.

I'd get a second opinion if I got that level of repair quote

Common TSB at 90k. Cams may start to leak oil. Loss of pressure causes VVT to fail. Car may seem fine but power/efficiency will be off at times. Eventually it may not start.

$2700 is a good dealer price. Parts are $600-$750 for the kit. Front engine rebuilt is more than a day of labor at dealer rates. Non-dealer repair possible at $90/Hour but tools/software becoming harder to come by for these shops.
