Hi. New here after purchasing a new Disco Sport (coming from an LR2). I'm enjoying the car so far - a nice upgrade from the LR2.

It does have a little more get up and go on the highway than the LR2 for example ;). To that point, I am wondering if anyone here has installed (or had installed) a built in radar detector in the new Disco Sport? I have a Escort 8500ci from my old car that I need to install. Specifically, I am looking for:

1. a way to run a wire through the firewall - is there anywhere where something comes from the engine compartment that would allow a wire to be passed
2. anyone know how to remove the dash panels under the stereo to install the control unit?

I may just take it to a shop and let them try to figure it out, but thought I would see if anyone here had done something similar.

Thanks

Congrats on the Disco purchase!

I love mine too after coming from 15 years of X Drive BMWs...

For the radar detector I use a Valentine V1 on the dash with the wiring going to the OBD II plug.
Wiring goes on the bottom of the window and down the side of the driver's side rubber moulding.
The OBD is near the left kick panel - I did not want to cut or splice into the wiring so I chose a more stealthy installation.

Use fuse #67 located under glove compartment, (hot with motor on, cold with motor off) with "Add A Circuit, Mini",(local auto store)saves a lot of time and effort that is not needed, run a ground from the white plate under the glove box. Rewire your detector ends with MF bullet connectors. As far as wiring up under and under the front dash, no clue.....

Thanks all - appreciate the input. Ended up having a shop put it in for $90... a bargain given how long it took (mine is a built in as I have had issues with the heated windshield confounding my dash mount - an extra layer of difficulty, but they did a great job). Thanks for the ideas and happy driving!

I need to tag this post....Picked up my Disco HSE just a week ago and realized there is no Cigarette lighter plug anywhere near the front.....only one I found is inside the arm rest.
