Poor Over-The-Air Radio Reception

5135 Views 5 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Bill F
I am having poor radio (OTA) reception. I drive approx. 18miles to work every day and for most of the journey, the reception is OK but there are times when I can hear static and the reception becomes poor. This occurs practically on all channels. The radio stations are well equipped w/ high towers. Before getting the DS, I've been driving a Honda CR-V for 8yrs to and from work on the same route and I've NEVER had reception issues.

Any thoughts? Ideas? Pls advise.

Never had such issues - radio works perfectly fine. better than my mazda3 actually
I found there are antenna wires on the rear hatch glass that look like heater defroster wires.
If you take a closer look, the outside edges of the glass has wires etched in that says "Antenna".

Take a look to see if maybe there is a break on the metal etching.
It would be easy to have something from inside the rear compartment scratch off the etching....

Then if there are no damages to the metal antenna wires, have the dealer take a look at the 2 wire looms from the hatch to the body of the car (located on top near the hinges).

Land Rover just released a new software patch for the radio. It is suppose to cure the problem of the radio forgetting the presets, but maybe it fixes other things. You might want to check with your dealer.
