After a 9 month long wait for our 2016 Disco Sport HSE Lux, we got it on Saturday and it was in for service on Monday with a clicking sound coming from the left side of the vehicle when turning.
Sounds alternatively like the source of the sound is in the engine, and then sometimes sounds like it's coming from under the car.
Land Rover technicians in the US still don't have much experience working with the car and they told us that they could not find anything wrong with it and explained that the sound appears to be the Active Drive Control mechanism kicking in for the wheel differential. They indicated that there have been reports of the heat shield being too close and chafing with the drive mechanism but didn't note this on our vehicle. I'm not so convinced that this is the cause but good to know that they at least cleared anything structurally major. The technician agreed that the sound was odd enough and they don't know 100% that the Active Drive Control would cause it, so they will continue to monitor the technician forums for anything related and keep us posted, but I can tell you that it doesn't sound right.
Other than this we are over the moon regarding the car. The handling is great, it looks amazing, and I can't wait to take it for a more comprehensive test of the off-roading capabilities. The engine lag that was reported is noticeable but not a big deal for us. Anyone else seeing this issue with the sound?
