Have a strange hole in the back behind the bumper. Can anyone tell me if this is normal or not? Looks like a panel may have been removed. It's a 5 seat model without the +2. Outside of that looking a bit strange, this vehicle is awesome. Very comfortable.

I'm watching youtube videos, and it looks like there are defiantly examples out there were that hole isn't carved out of that part of the car. this isn't a 5+2 where the spare tire is back there and accessed from below, the spare is accessed from the inside. i think the dealership may have put a towbar on there or something and then took it off before selling to me. not sure, but i really dont think its right.
I just checked my DS, and noticed I have the same hole! Never even was aware until now, after having car for a month. It's underneath the bumper and isn't very visible unless you are at the right angle. I do notice it's cut out in some way bec the hole edges are raw.
We definitely need to find out why it's there. I also intend to get a hitch from UHaul soon and wonder if the hitch goes in that area.

BTW, I stopped by the dealer today and inquired. They said it's supposed to be there. It's an area where you can attach a trailer hitch.
Although it's pretty much out of sight, I still find it appaling at how unfinished it is, if you take a closer look. It definitely looks like it was machine-cut in some way.
I don't understand why some people who would have a cover and others not, either.

I believe that hole is for the UK spec hitch....which is different than US spec. I think dealerships are confused about it because they haven't put too many hitches on yet. Mine had the hole cut out and my dealership said it came that way from LR and that they did not cut it out.
When my Disco was repaired after our fender bender, the new cowl does not have the cutout....thankfully.
Even though you can't see it very well, I think it looked tacky. But now I don't have to sweat it.

Here's a pic of the U.K. Spec hitch and shows why there's a cutout. I don't think they should send them to the US like that.
