I took my DS back to the dealer today for my various software issues, including my iPod issues. I asked about a maps update. The service manager told me her heard that Land Rover is NOT updating the SD cards. The company that was doing it says it's too small a niche. If that's the case, when will those of us with SD card nav systems bring a class action against Land Rover? Besides data being out of date, this certainly devalues the DS's (and other LR's) with the SD nav system. Why is there always something else with the DS? :-(

Maybe we can copy SD data from newer model DS and put them onto ours ??
I got the sense that there have been no updates since the data in the 2015 DS I bought, even for newer models. I got the sense that others were complaining, and not just DS owners. Maybe LR uses the SD cards in other models? I think it's going to stagnate and that's it. We'll just have old data in the system until we get rid of the car.

I bet there will be a way to update it. Even if not through LR, someone will find a fix.

I got my system updated today when it was in for service. Not sure what it did. Do others have the Nav report your city you are currently located?

There have been postings about the Nav not displaying the city when zooming out. Mine doesn't display it. There used to be an update labeled Q495 listed for my car, but it was gone by the time I took my car in. It was supposed to fix this issue. Mine still isn't fixed.

My new discovery sport is 3 months old, NAV system would not store HOME, or any saved destination. I never knew one moment to the next when the NAV system would be functioning. Sometimes the data was there, more often than not it would not be. I have been dealing with this since buying the Sport model for tree months with the Princeton dealership who basically cannot do anything about the issue. They said they were waiting for a patch from the big boys in England. My vehicle was in service for a month with absolutely no progress. They now want me to bring back the loaner, and use the defective vehicle until a patch can be formulated. I am exhausted from dealing with this on a daily basis. I want my money back, my contract torn up, or a new model without any issues. Land Rover knew of NAV issues before I purchased in some of their Discovery Sport models, but I was not told anything! I have filed in Lemon stays in NJ and am awaiting a date for a court hearing. I would not buy from Land Rover again-- their business decisions are obviously to make me wait for an unknown amount of time, while paying for a new vehicle is stupid and cheap!

--and as suggested-- a class action against JAGUAR Land Rover North America might be the only option left to us few facing warranty issues that cannot be repaired-- suggest you all look into the Lemon Laws of your state--- and send a "certified letter" to Land Rover North America-- I did this and someone actually responded-- so far they are just "thinking" about what to do for me-- after all, it has only been five months that I have been dealing with faulty NAV issues!

I provided the map updater URL for those who may have older versions of the map. Unfortunately, there are those who have had the map since 2015 and are still unable to update. I've only had my DS for only 3mos. now and had the latest update at the dealership so since there was no new update for me (ie; "Free Updates" is grayed out and un-clickable; refer to screenshot below), I thought this would be normal. Not sure what it takes for old maps to get updated. If this utility is unsuccessful, perhaps the only means to update is via the dealership.

Tried to run program on computer but got error "tool box agent stopped working"

But if like most other vehicles updates are usually sporadic and far between.

IN the thumbnail from last post I notice the vin number is not filled in could this be the/a problem?

I intentionally blocked out the VIN via photo editor for security reasons. (I have tried to update the map every month to no avail as the Free Updates is always grayed out.) Due to your error message, try downloading the utility again and it may take several attempts for the utility to execute. My concern is even though you can get the utility to load properly, you'll probably get the same grayed out "Free Updates" as everyone else is: http://www.discoverysport.net/forum/electronics-audio/3330-navigation-maps-update.html

Thus, I'm not sure if LR (or whomever) have halted the online map update process and force owners to update via the dealerships.

I wanted a new SD card in the hopes that the NAV ISSUES would stop-- turns out the SD cards are VIN specific---- apparently NAV issues in the Discovery Sport are not SD card issues-- And apparently I am to drive this faulty new vehicle around and like it ---until they can come up with a "patch" for a problem they do not understand and which does not exist in every vehicle! And-- am expected to continue to pay full monthly payments as agreed upon in the lease.

I have enlisted the services of a lawyer to go against JAGUAR LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA-- services are free -- and easy-- they get paid by JLRNA-- most cases settle out of court-- been dealing with uncaring or impetent managers, service people, and specialists for five months now on my new 2016 DS -- which has unsolvable NAV issues-- gonna let a judge decide now! When your tired of no results from your dealership--- you should look into this-- free and easy-- just go to web and type in your state and "Lemon Law Attorneys".

Do any of you reading about faulty 2016 DS Land Rover NAV issues know of anyone who has a new--2016 DS Land Rover WHO IS NOT HAVING TROUBLE with the vehicles navigation system?

Please email me [email protected]-- JLRNA is telling me to go pound salt, that the NAV issues in my new 2016 DS are usual and the norm. They are shutting their eyes to problems they cannot solve. I just want to be able to say-- he has a new 2016 DS and has no problems whatsoever-- so there truly is something wrong with my vehicle. I am sick of dealing with these people who have carte blanch to screw everybody with absolutely no fear of retribution.

If any of you reading this have a normally functioning NAV SYSTEM in a new 2016 DS Land Rover-- please email me.
Thank you,
Buzz Morse
