Took delivery of my Discovery Sport one week ago. Love it! However... I've been averaging, according to both my own accounting and the onboard computer's data, twelve miles per gallon. And I've been driving it in "Economy" mode! Yikes. Anyone else experiencing this? Something is definitely amiss.

Yikes. Do you think it has anything to do with how you drive? That just seems pretty far off from what it should be. Or perhaps you live in San Fran and are driving up and down hills everyday?

Hi,

I took delivery of our 2015 Discovery Sport HSE Lux last week and also noticed that the mileage seemed too low. There's a Land Rover active driveline video on youtube that explains how the system works beginning with the 2014 Evoque. It's supposed to be the same system on the Disco Sport. Traveling above 20mph on smooth highway, the system reverts to 2 wheel drive and the 4X4i scree shows 2 wheel drive engaged.

I've noticed when driving on smooth highways over 20 mph, my screen shows power to all 4 wheels and never reverts to 2 wheel drive. I will ask dealer.

Just a thought.

So in my case, I have some new info and found additional data screens. In eco mode, advanced trip option shows current trip miles per gallon, best and last 3 trips. We've been averaging 22 mpg.

What was confusing was the miles to empty number appears to be a worst case scenario. This am I left for the dealer with 54 miles to empty, drove round trip 20 miles and got home with 47 miles to empty. I feel better because after the last fill up, the miles to empty was 298...for an 18 gallon tank that seemed off.

Hi,

If it is like other cars, the distance to empty is calculated based on the average MPG for the last 40 miles of driving. If it was a lot of stop and go, the number will be way down.

22mpg is getting much closer to what it should be. Actually quite good for mixed driving based on 20/26 that they state on the sticker. Thanks for posting your findings guys. I'm excited to hear more about real miles from owners to see what they think.

me too. I've been driving mine since April and I feel like I have to pump every week. definitely more than my other cars (bimmer and lexus) in the past.
How many miles/km's do you have on yours by now? Although any positive change won't make a real difference in how often you fill gas... i'm just curious.

It could get slightly better over time.

l little shy away from 1000 miles. 993 reads on my Remote in control. I have been filling up full tank almost every week since I got the car. I work 5 days a week and my commute is about 20 miles a day. plus weekend drives. I do though, turn the auto on and off switch off when I drive. I find it annoying since I have my climate control on all times and it shuts the AC off when I come to a complete stop.

We've been getting excellent mpgs 23-24 mixed but mostly city driving ... So ya, something is wrong.
glad to hear your getting good results with mixed driving.

Yep, right now I'm half way through a tank. Been doing all city driving. Average speed so far is only 25MPH and all the AC is running
. I'm sitting right at 22 MPG. Once we get on the hwy this weekend that will rise.

I'm more than satisfied with it so far.

This is with start/stop always on.

The only thing I do that some may do differently is that I run 100% real gas. No Ethanol. Real gas always nets me better mpg in all my vehicles than Ethanol and I can personally justify the extra expense. Some folks can't justify it, while other folks just don't care.

Just to follow up on this. That tank lasted until last Tuesday. We did a little highway driving over the 4rth of July weekend and it ended up at 23.7mpg for that tank of fuel.

Still more than satisfactory for me.

I've only driven mine about 400 miles. On the dash, it's showing about 19 mpg. However, when I checked Eco data for various trips, I was up to 27 on one trip and averaging in the mid-20s. I hope it's accurate!
