I'm actually having the same issue. I thought that perhaps the car battery was dead but after entering the car using the backup physical key the alarm sounded and the vehicle started right up. I have been driving the vehicle more to keep and eye on it and am slowly being able to use the fob more. I have an appointment with the dealership to have a look at it but am starting to wonder if like many other luxury cars there is some sort of alarm battery backup that goes flat. Any updates on your vehicle?

This happened to me, and my keys became pretty much useless. I was able to start the car with them by just putting them the right way under the steering wheel. I took it in to the dealer and they replaced both batteries in the keys. They work like a charm now. Hopefully that is all it is for you guys.

Hi
I'm also having issues with my 2016 disco sport soooo... its been sat around 3 month hasn't been started I went to start it today neither of my two key fobs would open the doors opened the car with the key inside the fob alarms blaring neighbours going off as you can imagine it opens the door i have no interior lights no life whats so ever couldnt get the alarm to turn off so I've pulled the battery off (alarm still going off mind) tested it with a multi meter ( 12.1 3 volts ), I've set the battery away on a trickle charge over night to see if its just a flat battery issue but I feel like the both keys have lost communication with the car has anyone come across anything like this ?
