New app for InControl. Has anyone else downloaded this app in InControl?

Seems like it might be cool but it won't activate in my InControl until my vehicle gets an update.....

Have not personally tried it but the app does seen pretty intuitive and it does learn over time to recognize your voice and accent. Jaguar Land Rover has been working on it for a while and I managed to find a video of it in action.

Unfortunately, I don't have a list of every app it's compatible with.
Thanks much Traveller!! This looks like a very usefull app. I really want to try it out!
LR owners in Australia thinking of downloading this app. Check the review comments in AppStore first. Not supported in Australia.
Yep, it says US only. At least for now.

I installed JustDrive via iTunes App Store, launched the app on my iPhone, signed in with one of my Google accounts. I don't know why it needs a Google or Facebook account, its navigation seems to use Apple Maps APIs since SIRI voice is used. Anyway, I recommend use a gmail account that does not have any sensitive personal information just to be safe. I then followed the steps to set up my account. Once the setup was done, I switched to InControl app on the iPhone and arranged the app positions. Finally I connected my iPhone to DS via USB cable, tap InControl in the Infotainment screen, and JustDrive icon showed up.

I did not spend too much time playing with it, but my first impression is that it is much easier to find places/addresses then DS' navigation feature (to find an address on DS, you have to enter separate city, house number, etc, for JustDrive you can simply speak the entire address). Phone call feature works okay, but I don't see any advantages over DS' own phone feature yet (the search actually is slower than DS’ own Phone feature). Media Play is pretty good, it can search any media titles on your iPhone.

The main control method for JustDrive is the Voice command, and it is inconvenient since you have to stretch your arm and tap the microphone icon on the screen in order to start the voice command.

UI is not bad, the wait time for the response is a bit slow in some of its functions (round trips between the DS’ InControl and JustDrive on the phone). Overall, it's not bad, but I can pretty much accomplish all of its functions via DS' own infotainment system, except the better search function in JustDrive.

My friend used his phone and took a few pictures while we were playing with JustDrive last night. Sorry about the bad image quality:

InControl main menu:

JustDrive GO (Navigation);

Reattach the pictures, somehow the thumbnails don't show up.

What year is your DS?
Have you had any recent incotrol updates?

Thanks!

DiscoDisco - It's 2015. The only update the dealer has ever done that is related to InControl is Q495. I don't know if Q495 is needed to run justDrive, since justdrive.net says any 2015 and newer can run justDrive app.

Back to Q495 update, it has several fixes, the only complaint I have is that it removes the "Speed limit warning" feature from DS' Navigation system.
My favorite function of the app is that it uses Spotify for it's music. Voice recognition is very accurate. At least for me it is. Also you can search for restaurants and such on Yelp which is pretty cool.

OK, thats the update that its is saying I need then. Thanks!

DiscoDisco - could you please check to see if "Speed limit warning" is removed AFTER Q495 is applied on your DS during your next service?

Again, the speed limit is the one from the Navigation system, not from the Traffic Sign Recognition.

Thanks in advance! :)

I watched the video on justdrive.net. I don't have an iPhone, so I guess I can't try the app, but I'm hoping it comes out for Android soon. When you navigate using it, does it have it's own navigation? So that it doesn't use the car's navigation? If that's the case, why did I (we) pay for navigation in the car?

rcbjr2 - justDrive uses its own navigation. The map shows on justDrive is not the same look as either Apple Maps or Google Maps, but the voice guidance is SIRI, and it looks a bit more like Apple Maps (you can see part of the map from the picture I attached last time).

From my experience, justDrive is good for finding addresses quickly (better than car's navigation search), but of course it uses your smartphone's data.

So basically, InControl is the Apple Watch, and you still need an iPhone to use the watch. ;)

Thanks for the info. For the Android version, they should just incorporate Google Maps. At this point, I still have grandfathered unlimited data with Verizon. Not sure how long that will last, but at this point I don't worry too much about the data. Of course, I have no service at my house, but that's a different issue (and why we might switch to AT&T during the Xmas sale time).

Emailed justDrive and they said it should be coming to Android in early 2016
