Is it safe to backup? I don't know, get the message off the screen!

That stupid giant message when the backup cam turns on. You literally cannot see what's behind you, maybe a bag of groceries or a dead body lying directly under the bumper....

In other news the tire pressure system is dead on accurate. I had a low tire at 29psi warning, checked it against my known good digital meter, and it was spot on.

Funny and good news on the tire pressure!
It's unfortunate how many "nanny" controls there are on this vehicle. It is borderline dangerous and this backup message is good example. I put the car in reverse after I've checked to see it is clear and rely on the supplemental video for additional information as I'm backing out. This message blocks too much of the screen in the wrong place.

Does anyone know how to disable this message? Does anyone else care?

Thank you for mentioning this Ranchos. I just had a discussion about this very thing a couple days ago with a colleague.

count me in on the "hate the stupid backup message" side of the fence.

what is the point of the back up camera that doesn't allow you to see what is behind you
Is there any way to turn it off? Not only is it too large, the font is very low resolution.
LOL the realy ironic thing about that message is that it's there as a "safety" measure and as a CYA for Land Rover to decrease liability.
same here I have this message on the upper part of the back up screen .but disapears in a 3 - 5 sec. But most of the time im in a hurry and it blocks the view
When I back up, I have a small message at the top of the display warning me to be careful. It only lasts a few seconds. It's gone by the time I move to R, check my mirros, and look back at the screen to start backing up. Maybe mine is smaller than everyone else's? It's not opaque and it seems to take up only 20% or so of the screen in the middle top. Maybe others have a bigger warning? I've been meaning to take a photo and post it to compare but I don't think about it until after the message disappears. :)

Mine is the same or similar. Not a big deal imho. I think the image differs depending on whether or not you have the vision assist package or not...?
My RAM has a similar message. As I stated above....its Just another CYA measure from the automakers to absolve them from liability. It's not their fault. Thank our overly litigious society. With new and helpful tech comes new and innovative ways to abuse the system.

I took a quick pic of my screen.

Yours looks just like mine. I don't think it's too large. And as I think I wrote, it disappears quickly, so I haven't found it to be a big deal. :)
I noticed about 6 months ago that my backup tire prediction lines were about 2 ft off. I told the dealer the backup camera seemed like it needed to be adjusted. This was after they did some work on a 3x repair of my tailgate. Coincidence? Maybe.

They said no issue it is fine.

I just backed up on top of a straight line on the street. I got out and it is off!

Anyone have this issue? Any way to adjust the lines or move the camera?

My warning is also unobtrusive, and only lasts a short time. Frankly, I don't even notice it anymore and had to specifically look to see what my display looked like as a reminder...

When I back up there are four lines showing on the screen. Two appear to be where the tires are and the other two are about 2ft further out and seem to show if I have enough room to open the doors. One loaner I had only had two lines showing when in reverse.

At the start of the Thread it was suggested that the warning screen blocked so much of the screen you could not see behind the bumper. All the cars I have driven have the warning screen top centre and even before the the warning disappears I can see all the ground behind me. BY the time I check my mirrors the warning is gone.
