Hi Everyone,

I am thinking of adding auxiliary lights to my 2020 Discovery Sport. Would like to use them for light off-roading and illumination when driving at night with deer.

Any suggestions? I found the below Hella lights.

Also, any experiences mounting these lights on a Discovery Sport? I had a brief phone call with a local JLR restorer/maintenance independent shop, and was told a custom bracket fabrication may be needed. Looking at approximately 6+ hrs of installation (!!!).

The car is a lease so also concerned with uninstallation that wont leave huge holes. Thoughts and assistance are appreciated.

Thanks.

I think that good LED’s would be a better bet, but probably more expensive. They would be easier to fit and remove again as they would be smaller. Can usually mount them on a roof rack or roof bar.
Are there any video’s on YouTube ?? May be worth a look.

thanks for the idea. will start searching online/youtube!
Doesn’t seem to be much on YouTube specific to the sport, but there are plenty of light bars available at all prices. Can be mounted direct to the A pillar trim or to a roof rail which I would prefer I think if you want to remove it.
I’ve had some similar spot lights in my garage for about 25 years in the box never used them as they were always tricky to fit properly.

thanks for your fast response. I reached out to a local independent JLR shop and was told that a custom bracket may be needed. some type of fitting that will not crack the grill or require drilling.

Hey Matthew, you're welcome to look through my light bar thread, but I'll just warn you that the single row 20" light bar is around the weight limit the license bracket can hold securely. My mounting solution works but it was never meant to be permanent, just until I built up the confidence to attempt a more permanent solution (which may include drilling). In the very near future, I'm planning to switch it up with either a behind-bumper mount or roof rack mounted 30" light bar. If you need any inspiration, you can check out Matzker's two DS builds.

I mounted a 40" light bar on the front runner rack, it's great for additional light at night on quiet roads and trails

I like the set up 👍. I just installed 4 hella lights on roof rack of my disco sport. But I’m curious to know how you wired up your light bar. Did you fish a wire into the cabin?

Looking for similar solution to augment existing front fog lights with 2 or 4 add on external fog lights. Did you use any off the market brackets or bar? Please share how did you install your add on lights.
Thanks!

Hi Mate, quick query regarding wiring ... how did you do it?

about to canabilise a plug and play setup to mate to the highbam then I got to the light connector and called in help - a neighbour who's a merc mechanic.... while mildly intrigued he expressed some concern at tapping into the electronics here as the 'headlight computor may be at risk.

Any insights would be welcome, I've built some brackets and installed them and the base wirning so commited but a bit unsure for the last steps... wondering if i can finish it myself or need to get an expert involed .. ??

thanks jacko
