SVO is quickly evolving into an alphabet soup umbrella for JLR special projects. First there was the luxurious SV Autobiography editions followed by the performance focused SVR and now next up, SVX for added off track capability as announced by SVO chief John Edwards.

While SV Autobiography and SVO badges will don both Jaguar and Land Rovers SVX is intended to be a LR only affair.Edwards offered nothing more then encouragement to look at the Camel Trophy and Dakar Rally to understand their direction. In other words when your Trophy Truck impregnates the neighbours Roller...

Edwards kept timelines and hints to himself save for saying that we should expect SVX treatments relatively soon and that logically “this is the third side of the product triangle, and one that we think has got huge potential.”

It's cool that they are making a hardcore off-road version, just so we can see what that looks like. The pictures look great, but you can't get a real good idea of how an off-road vehicle performs without a video. The roof air intake with the spoiler swooping off the back is pretty cool. And it looks like it has great suspension.

We need an autobiography Evoque!

Seriously, they should consider coming out with a premium trim of the Evoque.
I agree. I'm sure there would be those that would buy it. The Evoque looks great anyway and all the extra features and materials would really put it over the top.

What kind of stuff would you like to see in the autobiography Evoque?

I want a panoramic roof, and massage seats (just because I can).

Autocar has rendered the Discovery SVX, not the Sport but really not much different...

and SVO boss John Edwards did have some comments:

“There is a market for more off-road capability, so of course we’re looking at it,” he said. “In the US there’s a wide snowbelt, in the Middle East there’s extreme sand and in regions such as Australia and South Africa there is a need to cover very rugged terrain.

“There’s a very interesting market for cars with usable capability,” he said. “The established German luxury competitors are there, but we think there’s an opportunity to offer something different and something more. We’re well planned to develop and exploit opportunities in that market.”
