So, I looked at every piece of documentation and checked my window sticker. There's nowhere it says that I get a complimentary first service. Lol, well at least I didn't have to argue with anyone.

I took the DS in for the first oil change service. I asked what was involved for the first service. He said an oil change, tire rotation and a pollen filter change.
I get my tires rotated for free and I don't see a need to change that filter at this pont. So I just told them to do the oil change. He said, no problem.

I grabbed a loaner and went on my way. It was a 3rd row equipped DS and my daughter got a kick out of riding around in the 3rd row for a bit lol!
I picked up my DS that evening, freshly washed and vacced, and paid my bill of $140.00 for the service.
I hit 10k at just about one year of owning the DS.
I'd did some quick math and that's actually a little less than what I pay for roughly the same mileage of oil changes in my truck. (Cause the intervals are shorter and I'm a stickler on oil changes) I don't see us putting much more than 10k a year on the DS anyways. I'm pretty satisfied with that. Just one more reason I love the DS. :)

How do you only drive 10k per year? Sheesh. I hit 10k in 9 months. That's just driving to work and the kids everywhere. :)
Well, here's the deal. LOL!
I drive my truck for work, which racks up miles pretty fast. The Disco is my wife's daily driver and family runabout. So when I get home, my truck goes in the garage and stays there till I go to work again...unless we take a trip to the lake and have to pull our boat, which isn't that often these days.

I was actually surprised that we hit 10K in a year. I really didn't figure we'd make that many miles. For at least 6 months of this first year my wife worked only 1 mile from our house. My daughters school is 2 miles from home, soccer is 2 miles away, our Jiu Jitsu gym is 1 mile away, the grocery store is 1.5 miles from home. Those are the extent of our regular family errands.

So being that my wife was working so close to home for half the past year and everything else is so close to home, tells you how much we drove it for pleasure. LOL

One thing I like about those roads is sometimes you can speed without worry of cops, although it does help to have a scanner to pick up on any that might be hiding out somewhere. How often have you come across cops on roads like that?

I've see a few up on that road during the times we've visited.... But not a lot. In the winter everyone keeps it sane. You just never know what you're gonna run into.

ddogg227 you can wait until 10k, no problem. Seems weird I know but all good for me. On my third oil change now, 30k+ miles and haven't hit the one year anniversary just yet... New rear differential at 20k (problems began around 16k) annoying SD card read errors started around same time but replaced card and somewhat better. Now having persistent check engine light issues. Stay tuned - will update with outcomes. See my "Howdy" thread for full details: http://www.discoverysport.net/forum/introductions/4241-howdy.html

Geez! US$140 for an oil change on the DS? I don't know where you're located but is that normal for the DS? I assume you took it to an authorized JLR service?
Yup. I did 10k miles in 12 months. LR wants you to change the oil at 10k or every 12 months, whichever comes first. Yes, the dealership did this all change. When I buy new cars I only have the oil changed at the dealership at which I bought them from .
My RAM runs $45-$55 a pop for an oil change at my RAM dealership. I change the oil in my truck every 3k or 4K miles. So if you do the math it's even. However I put three times as many miles on my truck in a year then we put on our discovery. Sounds meaning a lot more money changing the oil in my truck and I am in the disco.
