The carbon canister and fuel tank pressure control hardware are back on that side. Opposite the filler?, you might say, yes, is true.
I didn't dig into the manual, but I'd have to figure on the leak detection pump cycling. The pump valve bleeds pressure when needed, and the dmtl pump pressurizes the tank under certain conditions to test and determine that the tank is holding pressure and not bleeding vapor. When you leave your gas cap off or loose, this is the guy who figures it out and turn the light on.
