Electric Disco?

JLR is working on hybrid and EV SUVS to counteract the Tesla Model X. There hasn't been an indication to which model is most likely to be electrified, but front runners should be the F-Pace or the Discovery Sport...

According to Autocar, the all-electric powertrain from Jag will be fitted to the new F-Pace crossover (seen above in spy photos), allowing it to travel roughly 300 miles on a single charge. This new electric crossover, if its built, will take the fight to the upcoming Tesla Model X.

It would be a good move, might also be a bad move as it can be seen as too soon. However a hybrid Discovery would indeed be a great move.
I mean could it not be both? I'm sure that both would be fairly desirable, although IMO the F-Pace would be more so. If they build just one I think it should be the F-Pace.

that could be the case
both SUV's are part of a different 'culture' and in doing both they can target the two different 'cultures'

I agree

that is something about the both of them to not be forgotten
Different brands too. So they might just want to make sure they have that offering in both brands.
At the end of the day they have to stay inline with who they say they are as a brand and stick with brands DNA, it's bound to be different.

I think that both brands could do a hybrid though. I don't think that it goes against the character of either brand.
