Distance to Empty

Can everyone post on 100% full gas tank what your Distance to empty reads?

Mine only shows about 290-300 at most. I am using 93 octane.

I got a DS loaner the other day and when i filled it was much closer to 400 miles till empty.

My 2016 DS show similar to yours - ~313 Miles to empty - At 100% full.
is that normal? I mentioned it to service adviser and he will look into it. Im going to see if my total trip match the computer as well
Mine is anywhere from 345-365 DTE when totally full.
I Just completed today another test, running from full to empty, Super (93), driving mainly in the city with start/stop enabled and in Sports mode most of the time - Total of 300 Miles barely - fill up 17.2 Gallons with 18 miles to 0 left according to the DS computer.
Mine reads anywhere from 400-600 km depending on what kind of driving I've been doing lately. 400 km if all the driving has been in the city, 600 km if it's been mostly highway driving and in the middle if it's been a mix of both.

The onboard computer is a mess anyway. It is so way off real fuel consumption (as measured at the pump) that it might as well exist in an alternate universe with different laws of physics. I have seen other cars where the computer is a tad optimistic about the fuel consumption, but the DS just gives you a blank-faced lie and expects to get away with it.

I generally have to add about 1.5l / 100km to the reading on the dashboard to get close to reality.

My car starts out averaging 540 KM to empty when I fill it but it shows empty by 450 KM at the most before I fill it. 90% city, short trips and lots of hills.

like jabba says the computer is so out of calibration it is a farce and people believe it to be true. Mine is a little more than 14% optimistic and LOL I also add 1.5L/100km to the computer:crying:.

Going on a highway trip this summer and again in the fall so will be interested in what results the computer gives me then.

OK, here's what you should do (notice I said you and not me:) ). Fill your car all the way up, and run it until it runs completely dry and you coast to a stop -out of gas. Record mileage. That way you take the computer out of the equation.:nerd:

Let me know how it goes;)

:laugh:Hmm sounds like a good test, will be driving through the Rockies next month and I may gain distance from running out on top of a hill:eek: I wonder what Land Rover recovery will say :DWonder what the wife might say:( But it would be nice to go in a convoy

Average fill is about 50 litres, had the red warning twice. Before the fuel gauge software update and once after, to test the change.

Does anyone know what the service bulletin for the fuel gauge update is? It's an 18.5gallon tank (70L) but the best I did when the light went on was fill to 58L. So that's 12L of reserve fuel or a little over 3 gallons.
I had mine recalibrate last year and now reads correctly:

Fuel Gauge calibration: perform instructions in bulletin LTB00830NAS1, and calibrate
instrument pack.
on full- Diesel Model 891Kms

that will adjust depending on driving style and mode of driving (city or country or both)..generally combined its around 600kms for me
I FINALLY get like 375-400 per tank reading. I brought it in last fall and they were supposed to fix it, did nothing. But after my last service (20k) I can now get about 17 gallons in on empty. I was getting a max of 14.5 gallons filled on empty. Nice to finally have this changed and get a bit of extra range documented on the computer.

I have no idea what they did this last service that fixed this, but the prior attempts at fuel gauge specific items didn't work for me...or weren't done correctly by the dealer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was going to take MGLarry's advise but with the grand kids in the car I decided against it.>:D

Normally when I fill the car it shows up to 540 KM to empty but this trip it showed at one fill 710 KM to empty. I drove about 650 KM when the fuel gauge empty light came on and distance to empty showed 70 KM, this was in the mountains so seemed to be important. Managed to make it to gas station after travelling 686 KM and the fill was 62.016 litres so I think if the distance to empty dropped to zero I would have 4 or 5 litres left in the tank.

Travelling in the mountains with cruise set at 114 average KPH, (multiple long grades up to 9%) A/C on, and 4 passengers, I manged 8.61L/100 KM on one tank.(calculated) or 32.9 MPG imp or 27.35 MPG US.

Thanks!!
I am a new Land Rover owner. I can't figure out where to find distance to empty miles or how to have it displayed. Can anyone help?

Press the silver button on the end of the turn signal stalk. That will cycle through info. at the bottom the the center display, ECO mode info., date, distance to empty, etc.
