Land Rover has announced that the Discovery Sport will be sold with a four-cylinder, 2.0L Ingenium turbodiesel engine.

That engine will be sold tuned two different ways. The first produces 150 PS & 380 Nm of torque, and 180 PS & 430 Nm of torque. The more powerful version should get the Discovery Sport to go from 0-62 mph in 8.9 seconds.

Discovery Sports equipped with this engine will be sold with a blue "Sport" badge to denote that it is the most economical variant of the entire range.

Land Rover says that an even more economical version of the Discovery Sport will be added to the range later in the year with an Ingenium engine and a front-wheel drive layout.

will we get it in NA as well?

Yeah, right... the US spec will likely never see it. When I got my LR4 in 2010, myself and many other LR4 owners all had high hopes that the next year would bring a oil burner to the states. 6 years later, I think we can all agree to give up on that happening.

We hear and see rumors that JLR will bring a diesel to the US, but I doubt it will happen for the DS. The engine here is already on the small side for what consumers think of in a SUV. Performance is OK, with the current 2.0l petrol engine, but with the 2.0l oil burner, performance will be off the current offerings by a fairly large margin.

I just don't see them brining it to the US. I would love to be wrong though!

In Canada I'm 99% that they have brought in diesel RRS this year (MY15) not sure about FFRR, but the sports for sure are available here MY15 or MY16 as I am looking at them for my next vehicle - when trading up from my DS

That's good to know especially since you're from Canada and Canadians are usually the last to get anything in north america.
