Land Rover is creating a family of affordable SUVs under the Discovery nameplate aimed at entry luxury buyers.

Range Rover nameplates will continue as the second family of vehicles covering the high end.

Here are Land Rover's future product plans.

Discovery Sport: The Discovery Sport will replace the LR2 in the United States when it goes on sale next year. It will be priced in the mid-$30,000 range but not lower than the current LR2.

Discovery: The LR4 will be redesigned in 2016 and called the Discovery. It may use the Range Rover platform.

Range Rover Evoque: The compact crossover will be refreshed in two years.

Range Rover: No changes are expected for the next few years.

Ranger Rover Sport: No changes are expected for the next two to three years.

Thanks for posting this break down of what they plan to do with future year models.
Seems like with the Discovery being a 2016 model, we should eventually see something on it soon enough, at least by the end of this year.

Yea this is a great quick break down of what to expect from Land Rover in the future. Mostly its the Discovery Sport. I guess the brand is a bit limited since it only does SUVs so we can't expect a crazy amount of new models from them, although BMW sure has found a way to make SUV after SUV model.

yes but land rover is not BMW don't forget that. Also the company is Jaguar Land Rover, which means Land Rover handles the SUV's and Jag handles the sedans. Yes I know Jaguar will be coming out with their own SUV, but you're still not going to see LR build a sedan.

Exactly, it only works for Jag to come out with an SUV since the market can use more sporty SUV's, although while RR and LR does that, Jag will be able to do it in a way that can better rival the Cayenne, and the like.

I'm just trying to think of areas where RR and LR are able to expand and diversify. If they are limited to SUVs, what kind of SUV can they make next that will still be different enough from the ones that they already have?

I can't think of anywhere else they can go, smaller...i can't imagine that. I think they should just keep the models they have and work with those. What they can do is start looking into offering armored versions of some or 1 of their SUV's and that's only where I see they can 'expand', it's very minor, but something. Still not a whole new model.
