What you guys should do before installing the chrome trim is to wrap it in clear vinyl. That way you won't have the typical scratches that build up over time and most of the clear protective wrap coming out these days are self healing, worst case scenario is you'll have to heat it up to help self heal... that heating up can be as simple as rubbing it with your finger letting body heat do the heating.

I'd be interested to hear how this wears over time. Corners or edges pulling up? Wear through? etc. If it starts to look tattered how easy is it to revert to original?

Starting to think it would be cool if there was some company that offered to make custom cases that look like they came from an OEM. Just nothing that looks like a cheap slip on and i'm sure many of you have seen those.

LRD - I'm not sure what you are referring to when you say "cases" - especially in response to the thread about overlays on interior pieces.

for me it would be cases that are customized with leather and special stitching patterns but done in a way it looks OEM or looks like it could be OEM.

Okay so I'm not alone. What @MGLarry said. Cases for what exactly ?

where did you have this done?
I used to have real wood dash kit by the same brand (B&I) on my 1999 Defender. And I did the installation by myself, nothing that complicated. It took me around 5 hours to install about 30 pieces.
You just have to clean all teh plastic pannels from dirt, grease, dust, etc. Then you will have to pre-fit the pieces before sticking them on. If everything fits okay, go and stick it. In my case, one piece did not fit the right way (it was cut wrong), so I had to wait for the replacement of that piece. The rest worked out great for me.
