Hi all,

I've been on here for a little bit since taking delivery of my DS and I held out on posting about this hoping it would be resolved. But I would like to let any potential buyers or current 2016 owners know that LR will ship your vehicles with a cutout of your lower half of your rear bumper post manufacturing. The cutouts are meant for the tow package. But even if you didn't order the tow package, they will hack your rear bumper out regardless. At this point, LR claims this is done as designed which i think it's full of BS. If it was designed, then the opening would have been molded in with the design not cut out with a hack saw. They're trying to shift the blame to the local dealership which I know is not at fault.

I'm wondering how many DS owners have their rear bumper cut out here on the forum. Please chime in on your purchase and/or experience trying to resolve this. Thanks.

This has been mentioned in other threads for awhile now, with understandably much gnashing of teeth.

I have the cutout as well, and could get quite angry about it but have decided to let it go. It's not very visible unless one ducks down and looks for it, in my opinion. I don't think anybody will notice unless it's pointed out in the first place, but that's just me.

but yes, upon closer inspection it does look terrible, clearly something that was hacksawed out . . .

I do intend to get a trailer hitch from UHaul soon and am wondering if it will go into that spot . . . and how it would look like afterwards.

My 2016 did not have this cutout, but I'm installing the tow package next month which shows that it will come with a rear panel with a cutout - maybe I can work a deal and send one of you my old panel after the install instead of throwing it away as the install instructions say. Not sure if they come in different colors but mine is silver. PM me if you are interested.

Mine has the cutout as well. Really ugly and I am not sure whether it is safe. However, I couldn't argue much because the dealership guy said that it is supposed to be seen like that unless it has 5+2 seat.

Oh interesting - mine is a 5+2 so maybe that's the difference.
