Hey all,

I put myself and $2k on the "waiting list" for a new Defender (wish me luck, it might be years lol) and so in the meantime, I am trading in my ever-so-reliable 2018 Ford Escape for a Carmax-is-shipping-it-from-AL-to-FL 2019 LR Discovery Sport SE after MANY hours of research and test driving out in the world and on the Internets. I didn't even see it in person but I only had to pay the $199 fee, most likely it's unrefundable but I'm ok with that. It only has 30k miles and I so far am pretty excited. I read about all the problems with these and I thought...heck, I already had to get a completely new ENGINE on my Ford Escape, so I can only go up from here? This one doesn't have that weird non-functional panoramic roof that does not open (huh?), so I figured there's one less problem. And, if it's correct I don't have to sit on dead animals, either ("leatherette?"), which I'm happy about. And, it's the 4 cylinder so I hope to get some good gas mileage out of it.

It's the silver one (is there more than one silver) with black interior. I'd love to see your photos. Of your car.

What in the world am I getting into? Glad to have found y'all! There's a forum for everything!

Hi almost all the problems are with the Diesel engine and you have to remember happy people never post usually. There is more trouble with I phones not connecting than anything else
Love sitting on my leather white seats and the panoramic roof makes the car feel spacious , as it is.

You will not get fuel economy like your Escape, the Discovery is a heavy car. But shines in highway driving

Now you have me worried because I have the 2016 model which has a Ford motor. LOL

Amy, here's a picture. It's a loaded 2019 HSE (petrol) bought new in July 2019 and now with 11,000 miles. Yes, it does have that weird, non-opening panoramic sun roof, which I like. Never been back to the dealer for anything except annual maintenance. Add-ons: Rival engine/gearbox skid plate; Eibach lift springs. Do I love this vehicle? Yes. Yes I do.

Hi Amy, I just bought my 2019 black DS SE from Carmax last week (trading in my beloved 2019 Mustang that just isn't built for the weather and city here.)
Love it so far. Only mods I made was adding the carplay unit yesterday because the default Harman unit was lacking to say the least. Drives great and only had to wait a day to ship.

Hi Amy, I bought a 2021 loaner DS Sport two months ago, It has 18k miles. So far it is great. It is spacious, really nicely finished inside and much more spacious than my BMW X3. The new software updates have solved the iphone connection issues. Navigation is good. It feels substantial from the inside out. It is quiet and handles well. Reliability has been fine so far. Mine is the gas/petrol engine. If there is one area that can use slight improvement it would be the engine. It is adequate, but not overly powerful. Mileage on the highway is 23 to 24. Around town, more like 18 to 19. Hope this all helps!

I bought a brand new 2019 in 2021. I got a great deal on it. I've put about 14k trouble-free miles on it to date. It's been a great car, so far. Averaging around 22 mpg, and it's been good in the winter, and the one time I took it on the beach. No complaints.

Hi there, I am getting my LR DS next Tuesday (also regular petrol kind) - used Carvana and think I got a pretty good deal. It's a 2018 HSE Trim with about 9K miles and several add on features the previous owner included - black exterior, black interior. Also bought the added $40/month no deductible car repair service through Carvana as some peace of mind based on everything I read about there being issues with the car from time-to-time. Excited to join the DS fam :)
