I took my DS in for its 10k service. I gave the dealer a 4-page list with 25 issues (although several were one-time events, like AEB failing to start one time). They fixed three things (applied software patches). All of my issues are software related. The remaining issues are
HD radio substations are missing
Speed limit indicator turns to Night mode at random times
Camera touch screen is not responsive
Can't set default navigation volume
The no passing zone indicator appears at random times
Turning off SMS announcements between re-starts doesn't stick
No city names in navigation
I contacted JLR customer service. I have been speaking with someone at JLR who advised I needed to schedule another appt at the dealer. I asked if JLR was going to give the dealer any advice and she said no because the dealers are the experts about the car. Well, they can only do what JLR tells them to do.
In any event, I've been exchanging emails with my service manager. He pretty much says that they can't fix these issues and it's a waste of my time to bring it back in.
This is RIDICULOUS! These are software programming errors. JLR needs to fix them. The lack of HD substations issue (among others) has a bulletin on TOPIx (although I haven't read it). JLR tried to blame the lack of HD substations on a low signal. I'm not an idiot. I know when stations are coming in and out as I'm driving versus them not being available AT ALL!
I guess I'm going to cancel my appt tomorrow since it's a waste of time (although maybe I should bring it in because eventually there will be three strikes for the Lemon law).
What really irks me is that some of the issues were covered (supposedly) in the Q495 software update (e.g., lack of city names in navigation). However, when I checked TOPIx, that is no longer listed for my vehicle. Why? Why can't it be applied? If I had taken my car in a month earlier, it would have been listed as a "Current Campaign" (or whatever) for my car. For some reason, it was gone by the time I took in the DS.
I also asked about the InControl Apps update to be able to use JustDrive with my Android phone. I was told that's a 7 step process and the dealer doesn't have all the processes yet (whatever that means). I know that Apple users have had this since January (and I believe it was the Q495 update that gave them the ability to use JustDrive).
So, while I've generally been one of the positive ones about the DS on these forums, I am losing my patience and my positivity. I like the car and the features, but I want the features I paid for to work!
Thanks for letting me vent.
