How much cargo can you load?

I have 2017 Disco Sport HSE with the 19inch wheels.
I see in the manual it says 850 lbs as max safe load for all passengers and cargo combined.

I will be picking up a pallet of heavy stone slates - total weight = 2600lbs ....I know for sure this would damage my suspension / vehicle but thinking if I need to break it into 2 or 3 trips?
So....anyone thinks it would be safe to load the rear (seats folded) to about 1300lbs or should I just play it safe and do 3 trips (860lbs each)??

Don't forget you are a passenger so add your weight as well, and any poor sap you have conned in to helping

How far are you travelling with the load and how are the roads. If it was a short distance I might go with 2 loads but with added air pressure. If long drive at any kind of speed 3 trips would be the way to go, still with extra air pressure.

thanks for the reply...good point about more air in tires.

I actually just did this few days ago.... started to load the car with the help from the guys at the store.... put almost 1000lbs when I said enough... driving 15 min back home on regular streets... most at 45mph.
Felt the weight for sure but drove very carefully..especially breaking was affected.
At home neighbor helped me off-load it...then back 2 more times.... this time 800lbs each time = much easier on the vehicle.

In the future - would NOT recommend loading above 900lbs or so..... that extra 200lbs difference from 800 to 1000 was very clear

PS: I was the only one inside that another 185lbs
