The Range Rover Sport is now available as a plug-in hybrid, which happens to be the company’s first car capable of zero-emissions driving.
The British automaker has updated the entire 2018 Range Rover Sport lineup, giving the SUV a facelift featuring a new front bumper, an updated grille, and
LED headlights. Inside the cabin, the SUV has been updated with a new infotainment system, which Jaguar
Land Rover says is the most advanced system ever created by the company. It features a pair of high-definition, 10-inch
touchscreens.
But the big news is the introduction of the company’s first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, the Range Rover Sport P400e. Powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine and an electric motor, it has a combined system output of 398 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. The model offers an all-electric range of 31 miles (51 kilometers) and marks the first time Land Rover customers can experience zero-emissions driving. According to Land Rover, the plug-in hybrid goes zero to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds (zero to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds) and has a top speed of 137 mph (220 km/h).
The plug-in hybrid Range Rover Sport won’t arrive until summer 2018, however, as a 2019 model year vehicle. Expect pricing for the Range Rover Sport P400e to be announced closer to its launch.
