Discovery Sport vs. XC90 vs. Santa Fe vs. X3

Excellent review from Autocar:

Land Rover Discovery Sport vs BMW X3, Volvo XC60 and Hyundai Santa Fe | Autocar

Not an encouraging conclusion though:

"Unless you absolutely, positively must have the newest car on the block, however, you’d be advised against buying a Discovery Sport"

The Lexus NX might have been good to include with this comparison.

Yea, that conclusion is basically saying, if you buy this car its because you care more about design, brand and image instead of practicality or performance.

It helps to read the article:

Unless you absolutely, positively must have the newest car on the block, however, you’d be advised against buying a Discovery Sport now, because the new, modern Ingenium engines are due soon. Their fitment will hopefully combat the Land Rover’s lack of mechanical refinement, unimpressive fuel economy and occasionally sluggish responses. Onwards and, aptly for a Land Rover, upwards.

At the end of the day you have to judge for yourself what to buy and when is the right time to buy it, this article is a good resource for fueling that.

Very true.

An informed buyer that makes their own calls on what to get is more than likely to be happy with their purchase regardless of what some reviewer has to say.

So when will the new Ingenium engine be getting put into the Discovery Sport? Next model year I assume.

Will be best to ask your dealer when they'll become available to your local area

Do you guys really think that the introduction of the Ingenium engine will make it so that the Discovery Sport will bypass its rivals in a comparison like this though. An improvement doesn't necessarily mean it will be better than the competition.

Might not put it ahead of the competition but it will give the Discovery more points than it already has.
