Hi from another new DS owner

Greetings everyone,

I got my Discovery Sport HSE just a few days ago, like it a lot. This is my first Land Rover, my previous car was Subaru Forester. It was great to find a community of DS enthusiasts, I'm looking forward to learning your experiences and hope to share mine.

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome!

Tell us more about the car - year, colour, equipment. Tell us about the buying experience. Tell us how it compares to your Subaru.

We're a curious bunch!

It's 2017 Discovery Sport HSE, aintree green exterior, almond/ebony interior. Packages include Climate Comfort, Driver Assist Plus, Vision Assist, 3rd row, plus a few other minor things. I didn't have enough patience to do a custom order, so just went to the Land Rover website and searched for available cars in stock. All-in-all, I've got pretty close to what I wanted for a reasonable price. I even didn't have to travel far since the car turned out to be available from Jaguar Land Rover San Jose! They were very friendly and professional, no problems whatsoever.

It's hard to compare it to my old Subaru. I'm still getting used to it, tweaking settings and trying different things. The car is noticeably bigger, more then I expected. But, I guess, this is a common trend. Newer Foresters are also bigger than my old 2010 model. Driving-wise, it's very different. While engines are quite similar (224 hp vs. 240 hp, both turbo), 4-speed transmission in Forester vs. 9-speed in DS makes a huge difference. Gas mileage should be also better, though I didn't drive the new car long enough to test this.

Welcome! Glad to hear you're enjoying the new vehicle. I just got my first DS last month. Traded in my 2009 Ford Escape and I agree, the DS is definitely a bigger car than I expected! Very happy with that-- I was worried it would be smaller than the Escape.

Great to hear of another new owner. I have owned many Subaru as well and in my opinion, the DS is leaps and bounds better.
I wish Aus had a website you could search for brand new in Stock cars so that I could have selected the options. Even so, seems Aus doesn't get many loaded cars and there is such a price premium.
