Please help me become a DS owner

Hi,

I have now decided to buy a Discovery Sport after wanting to have a Land Rover again. Had a Discovery a few years back but misses the feeling.

But I can not make up my mind! The dealer have 2 choices with both good price the they different specially the engine. I would be so glad if you could come up with some help why I should buy one of them as there is both good the bad things about them.

CAR 1
2016.5 new 2.0 150 engine with luxury pack 2.5 years left on its warranty. No HSE just the luxury pack with blind spot warning, part leather seats. Xenon light and nicer wheels. 4300miles/7000km

CAR 2
2015 2.2 TD4 with the old engine. But with more extras than CAR 1. Panoramic sunroof, heated seats, electric luggage door and reverse camera. No xenon, but I heard I could buy a LED lamp that will improve it. 16500miles/26000km

There is around 25% more in price for the newer one and really can't decide! I am a real calm drive and do not need a faster engine and I could not really feel the differce between the two. And I am a big fan of sunroof but also of money that I will save not buying the most expensive.

Please what to do? I know you will say "it's your choice" and that is true but I just would like your opinion on it.

Thanks! / Martin

I would opt for the newer gasser as well. Some of the options on the TD4 are nice, but the extra miles and 1.5 years older would move me to Car 1.

I'd prefer the diesel. But that's because I prefer diesel for enormous torque and super good economy.
I had 2 BMW diesels from 2009-2016 and loved them - they were rocket engines that sipped fuel compared to a gas engine.
Plus diesel engines are self lubricating which means they last longer than gas engines that strip the engine seals...

When I first looked at the Discovery Sport, there was a mention of the availability for a diesel engine but when the VW/Audi scandal broke, my dealer said no more....
I waited and finally got the petrol.

Now that I see Jaguar has the new F Pace in diesel, that will be my next JLR car!

I'd also vote for the diesel. From what I understand there wasn't a noticeable bump in fuel economy with the new Ingenium diesel, so the old engine should be OK. The extra miles aren't really that significant.

Out of curiousity, What kind of MPG does the diesel in question get?
