19 or 20 inch tires?

Hi everyone!!
I placed an order for a 2016 Disco Lux with 20 inch black pack rims and am now wondering if I should change it to 19 as a better all round tire. I like the look of the 20's better, but i've read that the 20's aren't as good in snow and give a more ridged (road feel ) ride. What do you all think?

I gave the Launch Edition a spirited test drive.....twice It has 19" wheels. My HSE Lux has 20" wheels. I couldn't tell a lick of difference. The 20's do look slightly better but I can't say they ride slightly worse. I've had 20's and 22's on several 4x4 trucks in the past. I never had ride issues really and the tires in those sizes performed fine in all areas that an average joe finds himself in. But I choose tires wisely.

I think you're splitting hairs trying to decide between 19" and 20" wheels and ride quality/performance.

FWIW... I've left my current 2015 RAM 4x4 stock so far. It has 17" wheels with a much taller stock tire than comes on the stock 20" wheels.. The 17" wheel/tire feels and rides the same as my 22's on my RAM 1500 R/T......but it doesn't "handle" as well. But for normal driving I'll be damned if I can tell the difference. That's fine by me because I love the way taller wheels look... Within reason. Lol

I think you'd be better off putting your efforts into deciding what will be your next tire choice after the stock tires need replacing.

Good luck!

If you want to see them for comparison, here you go...
Launch Edition will be first..19" wheels.

Mine will be second...20" wheels.

Thanks for the advice and pics. You just happen to have the exact same car as I ordered! Same color and rims. The UK discovery site says to get the 19's. Really torn here!

In your opinion, are the 20's better or worse? What is it about the 20's that you like or don't like?

so far to me it's the appearance. I compare my 20" to a stock 19" disco and you really can notice a huge appearance differences. I came from a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit Overland V8 Hemi with 20" as well. So I choose 20" on the disco. Don't get me wrong I love the Cherokee, but it was missing one key option the 3rd row seats. I have 2 small kids that can use the 3rd row. So base on my driving, the Disco 20" feels the same as my Cherokee 20" Of course my Cherokee has way more pickup power.

I think what you should look at is tire replacement costs for 19s and 20s. Make your decision from there. Get a dedicated set of snows as well...

If there are clear cut answers, based on independent test criteria, to 2 simple questions I can't find them. Can anyone help by referring me to a reliable information source? What are the best summer and best winter tyres (not all season thank you) for my Landrover Discovery 4? The recommended size is 255/R19 but a 20" alternative is also recommended by LR. Henry
